AP stands for Advanced Placement. This is the program developed by American colleges through their College Board to serve the needs of talented and motivated high school students who want to earn college credit while still in high school.
The program is designed to cover the content of specific college courses, and involves taking the AP course at your high school, and then taking the AP test in that area in May.
You may earn college credits for your test score. The higher the score, the more credits most schools award you.
- WHAT IS THE AP ADVANTAGE?
Because the curriculum for each AP test is developed by a nationwide effort of college professors, the AP class on your transcript will mean very definite things to college admissions officers and scholarship committee members. They know this program and what is involved, and find it to be one of the best indicators of future college performance and success.
