Boys Basketball Preview
11/29/2007 12:57 PM

This year the Johnson High School basketball team has moved from section 4A to 3A. Section 3A is perceived to be the easier section, mostly because the schools in the section are smaller. To coach Vern Simmons and the basketball team this only brings new teams and eliminates the old rivals. Before this year our school looked forward to seeing Stillwater in the sectional playoffs. But this year we are going have to get a new sectional rival. “ The biggest (change) is it’s new teams and we have no rivalries built up. In the past we had Stillwater, now we have to get to know the teams in section 3A.” Even though Section 3A may be easier than 4A; this could possibly be the youngest team we’ve had in four years. Coach Simmons describes his team as,” young and inexperienced, and we need to grow up.” Coach Simmons feels that there is a possibility of having only one senior on the team this year. Are team may lack some of the leadership that it had in the past but this still seems like it could be a promising year. Johnson seems like a pretty large school but in section 4A some the schools like Stillwater are almost double the size of Johnson, so we actually fit better in Section 3A but because of are schools talent and determination, we have made it to the top four the last four years. The this year we hope to go alot farther.
