Hockey-Slam!
12/17/2007 1:06 PM

Hockey-Slam! By Sheng Thao The girl’s hockey started in October and is going to end in March. A winter sport that has been loved by two Johnson girls and coach by Sarna Pone is an amusing sport. Girls that play girl’s hockey are Cassandra Vennemann, a defense player, Jena Rose Dushaw, who plays defense, and Kristen Gorman. “I play hockey for nine years and I love playing it,” replied Freshman Jena Rose Dushaw, a freshman hockey player. The team will help the team grow stronger, improve their ability, and the chance of winning more games. They had played ten games so far with winning four games. The girl’s hockey lost lots of seniors so that kind of affect the chance of winning more games so the girls need to step up and do their best. “It is fun playing it and the girls are fun also,” concluded Cassandra Vennemann. “ We did a little better than last year.” The girls hope that they get better throughout the season. Some information on what is hockey. It is played with a hard small ball. Your goal to get the ball into your opponent’s goal and you try to get the ball as far as you can from your goal. Hockey is played on a big flat surface of ice. To be able to get the small ball around the ice you use an L shape wooden stick to score points for your team. By what Kirsten Gorman said that she has played hockey when she was in 3rd grade and she play hard for her coaches and her team also. The team said that there are lots of new girls this year so everyone on the team should try harder to win the games. “We will win more if we could work a little bit harder,” concluded Kirsten Gorman, who plays forward. Their captain this year is Cassie Vitamin. She tries to put the team in a better position to overcome all their opponents. Another thing from the girl hockey is that they want more girls to join next year, but you have to work hard to get in shape for next year. Even though the team didn’t win that much games as they thought they would have, they had try there best on the games they played already. Johnson hopes the best for our hockey girls.
