This year’s explosive football season ended last Saturday with a lost to Chisago Lakes.
Johnson totally dominated leading 20-0 at halftime something but Chisago Lakes came back for a 44-26 victory.
So how do some of the Johnson Football players feel about the game?
“We started off with the best 1st half we’ve ever had,” said senior quarterback Andrew Ellis.
“We lost and it was disappointing,” senior running back Dominique Henderson added.
Senior Will Britten felt the same.
“I think it the season was good and I was put with a good set of guys,” he said.
Junior linebacker Quamar Tolbert and fellow classmate and defensive back Jordan Laroche had some interesting comments as well.
“I feel more sad for the seniors I feel like a part of me let them down, said Laroche.
“First half was exciting. Offense and defense was perfect,” Tolbert commented.
Now that we will be losing a lot of players the team will have to work harder, try harder, and step up.
“A lot of rookies got some spots to fill”, Tolbert said.
So what happened? Why did Chisago come back during the 2nd half and win the game? Well here’s what the players had to say:
“Didn’t change our strategies”- Quamar Tolbert
“Got to cocky”- Jordan Laroche
“We just got too cocky and didn’t play to hard and stayed to the basics”- Andrew Ellis
“We let our opponents take advantage and didn’t fight. We took the 1st half of the game for granted.” Will Britten
“We lost our momentum” Dominique Henderson
The season was filled with greatest moments and for each player it was different.
Henderson- Jumping over the end zone for a touchdown (Against Chisago Lakes). Britten- Catching the ball with one hand and completing it for a touchdown (Chisago Lakes). Ellis- Fumble that he pitched to Henderson that was on “Sports Wrap”. Laroche- His smacking hit of a big full back. Tolbert’s was when he “had a bunch of pancakes” (Hits in which he flattened his opponent like a pancake.
Now that the season’s over, the seniors have some advice for the juniors next year:
“Go to the weight room”
“Play hard”
“Keep that drive”
“Don’t take anything for granted”
“Work Hard!”
As for next year’s team, let’s see if we can give Chisago a run for their money!!
