| Business, Marketing & Management Academy |  | The courses in this academy will be flexible to meet the needs of all students. Basic academic courses will be offered to those students who plan to begin working immediately after high school and advanced courses will be offered for those who plan to attend college.
Students in this academy enjoy a small, supportive academy in an atmosphere were students can develop the knowledge and skills needed to become our future business leaders. Students will be involved with BestPrep, Junior Achievement, Learning for Life organizations and the Academy of Finance. Students will learn how to effectively communicate in a business setting. Students will compose business correspondence, technical reports and proposals, and a research paper. Emphasis will be placed on improving spoken, written and visual communication skills. Community service participation and a job shadowing experience will be required for students in this Academy.

This academy is designed to help students understand the basic underpinnings and practices in today’s business world. Students will explore business ownership, marketing and management, business ethics, the global economy and computer technology in the workplace. Students will have the opportunity to study the stock market and invest $100,000 playing a stock market game. Students will operate their own business using computer simulations similar to Sim City. Students will design a detailed business plan for a new business and prepare it for presentation to a group of potential investors. Guest speakers from business and financial institutions will speak to Academy members about current business topics.
